Last month we got our first look at Scarlett Johansson as the Major in the upcoming live-action adaption of Ghost in the Shell. The reveal caught a little backlash from the community over claims of white-washing, but the publisher of the original manga supported the choice, saying she had been "well-cast."
"Looking at her career so far, I think Scarlett Johansson is well-cast," he said to The Hollywood Reporter. "She has the cyberpunk feel. And we never imagined it would be a Japanese actress in the first place."
The cast has grown since the Johansson's reveal, it will no longer be limited to her and Kitano Takeshi – Rila Fukushima has officially joined the cast.
Fukushima appeared as a ninja named Yukio in the 2013 Wolverine film and as Katana on CW's Arrow.
