Woolfe: The Redhood Diaries rights and assets bought by Rebellion

A few months ago, GrIN Studios announced that they were shutting their doors due to bankruptcy and their game Woolfe: The Redhood Diaries was cancelled as a result.

Today, developer Rebellion has issued a statement indicating they have purchased the rights to the game itself, as well as all the game assets, and will be delivering all its Kickstarter rewards to its backers. Jason Kingsley, the CEO of Rebellion, stated that:

"We're really keen to do the right thing by the Woolfe backers. Just because we’ve joined the Woolfe project much further down the road doesn’t mean we shouldn’t respect the people who made it happen in the first place. If a backer hasn’t received the reward they pledged for, we’re going to do our best to get it to them, even if we have to make it ourselves.”

It's unclear if the console versions are still going to be released, according to Rebellion, as the game was originally built on Unreal Engine 3 which is no longer supported due to Unreal 4 being released. Depending on how the game responds in Rebellion's own engine as well will determine whether or not the much anticipated Volume 2 gets developed and released.

Woolfe: The Redhood Diaries tells the story of a older Little Red Riding Hood out for revenge against B.B. Woolfe (a human) whom she blames for the death of her father in a work place accident. Throughout the game play, we also encounter various other renditions of other fairy tale characters as well. We'll keep you updated on the game's progress and let you know what we hear. In the meantime, I suggest checking out the PC version of volume 1 as the story and game play had a unique twist not often seen in fairy tale games.
