Producer Charles Roven told Slashfilm that the World of Warcraft film will begin shooting in 2014. Roven told the site, "First quarter 2014 we're going to shoot that movie. We're moving forward; obviously Legendary is making that film and I'm having a great time with Duncan."
Roven is referred to Duncan Jones, who was announced as the director of the World of Warcraft film in later January of this year. Duncan Jones has directed Moon and Source Code, while Roven has produced tons of movies, including Christopher Nolan's Batman films and the upcoming Man of Steel.
It's still not known what the storyline will be, actors attached to the film, and how Jones will bring the game to life on film, but they have six months to figure that out.
The thing is, with filming beginning in 2014, it'd be tough to get the film released before 2016. Maybe… MAYBE they can should for holiday season 2015. I can't help but think that this movie might have been better suited for when Blizzard's MMO was more popular.
