Guinness Record-holder Michael Thommason is auctioning off his 11,000+ video game collection over at GameGavel.
The monolithic collection includes every U.S. release for dozens of systems such as Atari 5200, Atari Jaguar, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo Virtual Boy, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, Turbo-Grafx-16 CD, Action Max and more. Modern systems such as the PlayStation 3 and Wii are also hidden in the 11,000, with some real oddballs tucked away as well, with the Amiga CD-32 and Sinclair ZX Spectrum nearing the top of the obscure list.
Thommason has made it clear that he is by no means done with gaming. “I love games and they are [a] pivotal part of my identity,” he said. “I will continue to champion them.”
“I simply have an immediately family and extended family that have needs that need to be addressed. While I do not wish to part with these games, I have responsibilities that I have made to others and this auction is how I will help meet them," he concluded.
Here’s hoping those needs are addressed and cleared up, and that this veritable Rosetta Stone of gaming finds a good home. That home could be yours, by the way—if you can top the current bid of $50,000.
