Wrestling fans will be happy to know that WWE 2K14 officially has a release date. This year's WWE game, now under the 2K Sports banner, will release on October 29, 2013, according to the latest financial reports by parent-company Take-Two Interactive. Surprisingly, only the Xbox 360 and PS3 were mentioned in the report, raising concerns that the signature wrestling game won't appear on the Wii U — yet another blow to Nintendo.
WWE 2K14 will be the first game released by 2K Games after acquiring the franchise from THQ as part of a five-year deal following the former-publisher's bankruptcy filing. As such, the game will surely be under the microscope, especially after the surprising revitalization of the franchise with WWE '13's Attitude Era. Whether or not 2K Sports will elaborate on the mode or scrap it for something totally different remains to be seen, but all eyes will certainly be on the game's new developer, Visual Concepts, who will be joined by longtime WWE games developer Yukes.
Last month, WWE's EVP Stephanie McMahon confirmed that Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson will grace the cover of WWE 2K14, so already 2K is making some good decisions, at least in my book.
