X-Men: Apocalypse’s Jean Grey and Cyclops casting narrows

Includes Kingsman: The Secret Service lead actor

X-Men: Days of Future Past's follow-up movie, X-Men: Apocalypse starts production in the spring, so casting needs to finish up shortly. Director Bryan Singer will be introducing young versions of Cyclops and Jean Grey into the movie, and according to Latino Review, the shortlist of actors for the roles are quite impressive.

Latino Review has listed Taron Egerton (Kingsman: The Secret Service), Jamie Blackley (If I Stay), and Tye Sheridan (Mud) as the three in line for Cyclops. It's been reported though that Sheridan is the frontrunner for the role. When Egerton was asked about the rumor, he said, "I really can't comment on the Cyclops thing."

He added, "I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that's very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I don't know."

For Jean Grey, Chloe Grace Moretz was in the mix but had to pass on the role due to scheduling conflicts. The top contenders now are Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones) and Saoirse Ronan (The Host).

Actor Oscar Isaac is already known to be playing the villain, Apocalypse. The movie opens on May 27, 2016.
