X-Men: Apocalypse’s latest promo educates us on En Sabah Nur with a faux documentary

With the premiere of X-Men: Apocalypse steadily approaching, 20th Century Fox is taking some novel approaches with their marketing. In this case, the latest promotional material is a TV spot for a faux documentary entitled 'In the Footsteps of…En Sabah Nur'. Check it out above!

There has been similar promo material for the new series of X-Men movies like the Trask Industries ad for the Sentinel program featured in X-Men: Days of Future Past. This ad seems to match the tone of the 1980's era in which XMA takes place. Its got the poor sound quality and the grainy, VHS resolution of an 80's TV show, but also gives us some very quick backstory about the villain featured in the film, Apocalypse, which was touched upon in the most recent theatrical trailer for the movie. Unfortunately, the documentary isn't real, but we should get quite the education when X-Men: Apocalypse releases this May.

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
