Microsoft's Major Nelson has announced the two games Xbox LIVE Gold members will be treated to for the month of May, and boy are we in for a good time.
Kicking things off on Thursday, May 1, Xbox LIVE Gold members will be able to download Dust: An Elysian Tale on Xbox 360 for free. This XBLA release, normally $14.99, was scored an impressive 9/10 here on GameZone, getting credit for the immersive hand-painted world in which it is set. "As the mysterious warrior, Dust, you must master the ancient Blade of Ahrah to battle dozens of enemies with an intuitive combat system, take on a variety of quests, discover powerful upgrades throughout the massive, open world, and uncover the story of an ancient civilization on the brink of extinction as you fight to uncover your own past," the description reads.
On May 16th, Xbox LIVE Gold members will be treated to Saints Row: The Third for free. Another well-received game at launch, Saints Row: The Third sees the return of The Saints as they relocate to the city of Steelport in an attempt to get revenge on The Syndicate, an international crime organization led by Phillipe Loren. Though it's not quite as silly as the most recent Saints Row 4, there are still plenty of over-the-top, memorable sequences in the game. And as an open-world, sandbox game, you'll find there's plenty to do — like beating people over the head with a giant purple dildo.
While these two games aren't exactly new releases, they are at least quality. I think this may be the best set of games we've seen from the program yet. Unfortunately, despite promises, we've still heard no news regarding the Games with Gold program for Xbox One.
