Starting today, Xbox LIVE Gold members can download Saints Row: The Third for free on Xbox 360. Released back in 2011, Saints Row: The Third scored an amazing 9.5/10 as it combines "one part open-world gameplay, two parts snarky protagonist, one part corporate greed, a cup of over-the-top humor, plenty of violence, and just a pinch of insanity."
Saints Row: The Third sees the return of The Saints as they relocate to the city of Steelport in an attempt to get revenge on The Syndicate, an international crime organization led by Phillipe Loren. Though it's not quite as silly as the most recent Saints Row 4, there are still plenty of over-the-top, memorable sequences in the game. And as an open-world, sandbox game, you'll find there's plenty to do — like beating people over the head with a giant purple dildo.
Saints Row: The Third is the second of May's two free Xbox Games with Gold for Xbox 360, the first being Dust: An Elysian Tale.
Looking ahead, June's Xbox 360 free Games with Gold titles are Dark Souls and Charlie Murder. As a special bonus, Microsoft is giving away a third game for free, Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition. Earlier this week, Microsoft also announced that its Games with Gold program will be expanding to Xbox One in June. June's Xbox One free games are Max: Curse of the Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault.
