Starting some time "early" this month, Microsoft will begin sending out select invites to the newly launched Xbox 360 Preview program.
The new program will operate similar to that of the Xbox One preview program, giving selected customers the chance to sign-up directly from their Xbox 360 and preview any new features that should arrive with future updates.
"Look for a special Xbox Live message then head to Settings, then account then under account management if you’ve been selected, you’ll see Xbox 360 Preview Registration," Microsoft frontman Larry 'Major Nelson' Hryb notes of invites.
"Sign up there and enroll your console. Nothing will happen yet, but we’ll let you know when the Preview is ready to begin through a Xbox Live message."
In the upcoming release, Microsoft will address "common customer issues," including "improving the ability to troubleshoot common network issues from the 360 and adding a Network Connectivity test including Download and Upload speed tests." More changes are planned for later this year, Hryb adds.
While Microsoft aims to deliver a new Xbox One update every month, it's unclear how often we'll see updates for Xbox 360 moving forward. Still, it's pretty cool that Microsoft remains committed to its older console despite the growing popularity of its successor.
