Xbox announces 19 new original Xbox games for backward compatibility

After achieving something that’s close to magic with Xbox 360 backward compatibility on Xbox One, Microsoft wanted to take that feature even further. Last E3, Microsoft dropped a bomb on us by saying they were working on backward compatibility for original Xbox games and sure enough, they delivered last November.

A handful of games including Black, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Ninja Gaiden, and several others all dropped and gave players the chance to revisit some classics and also allowed younger gamers to experience games that they never got to play the first time around. After November, things went quiet regarding more original Xbox games and we were left wondering when there’d be more and what games they’d pick!

After a five-month wait, we have new (old) games! If you’re a Star Wars fanatic, Xbox will be opening the floodgates on some of the best Star Wars games ever made with both of the original Battlefront games, Republic Commandos, and KotOR 2! Other titles include the raunchy sci-fi game with a tinge of an old-school B-movie Destroy All Humans, Jade Empire, and many more.

One of the other huge games is Bethesda’s third entry in The Elder Scrolls franchise, Morrowind. The Game of the Year winner will be the third Elder Scrolls game available on Xbox One and will allow people to further immerse themselves in the rich world the acclaimed RPG developer has created.

You can view the full list of games below.

  • Star Wars: Republic Commando
    Jade Empire
    The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
    Panzer Dragoon Orta
