Xbox denies ‘active’ planning for digital trade-in service

It's not happening yet.

Earlier this month an Xbox survey asked users if given the opportunity, would they would "sell back" their digital games for in-store credit? The survey itself detailed the trade-in credit for used digital games would be around 10% of the purchase price.

With the question included in an official Microsoft survey, the Xbox community took it as a suggestion as to what will be available in the future. Unfortunately, digital trade-ins don't appear to be on the horizon for Xbox owner, at least according to Microsoft's Xbox marketing executive Aaron Greenberg.

In response to two analysts commenting on the possibility of digital trade-ins, Michael Pachter and Colin Sebastian, Greenberg shot down any potential for the features.

When "We are not actively planning such a thing; surprised it was even asked in a survey. Not fire being played with," Greenberg said to Pachter (via GameSpot) in a tweet. In another tweet to Sebastian, Greenberg reiterated,"We are not actively planning such a thing. Always asking questions to understand the needs of our fans. No need to worry."

So, there's no active planning, but that doesn't mean there's no 'active' consideration.
