After the NES Classic was officially discontinued by Nintendo netizens began speculating what Nintendo would be doing next. More specifically, the rumors of a SNES Classic began making their rounds, which were supported by a trademark for the SNES' Super Famicon controller that had been filed by Nintendo.
It appears as though Microsoft has fallen into rumor hyper or they know something we don't know. A Microsoft survey for Xbox Live Rewards members asking which console users are most interested in specifically mentions the SNES Classic, along with Project Scorpio, PS4 Pro, Nintendo Switch and upcoming game releases.

The survey went on to ask what the most 'appealing' feature of the Nintendo Switch and which feature is the 'least appealing.' It's interesting to see Microsoft asking so much about the Nintendo Switch… It makes you wonder if they are considering their own version of it.
Whether Nintendo decides to announce a SNES Classic remains to be seen.
