After the Xbox One exclusive Quantum Breakwas announced to be headed to the PC, rumors around other Xbox One exclusives heading to the PC via Windows 10 began making their rounds. Among the games mentioned in rumors, Forza Motorsport 6, Gears of War 4 and Scalebound were listed as games potentially jumping ship from being Xbox One exclusives.
It appears as though the Head of Xbox Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, has slipped up and revealed Gears of War 4 as a PC and Xbox One release.
When asked by the French website Gameblog to comment on the strategy of launching games on both the Xbox One and PC, Greenberg responded:
When you think of something like Quantum Break, being able to offer the game on both Xbox One and Windows 10 helps Remedy and that helps us. This is the vision.
That said, as first party we will continue to invest in the creation of great console exclusives like Gears of War 4, ReCore, Halo Wars 2 and similar titles. We believe in building one big ecosystem of games.
Now, Microsoft recently brought Gears of War Ultimate Edition to the PC and Greenberg could have easily made a mistake when referencing the series, but porting Gears of War 4 to the PC isn't unlikely.
Microsoft's Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, recently stepped forward to address the uneasy Xbox community, saying that their pursual of PC gaming isn't as bad as it seems and that it's more of a good thing than anything else. Unfortunately, Spencer's assurance hasn't quelled the fears of Microsoft 'killing' the Xbox One off by bringing exclusive games to the PC.
At least we can rest assured with one thing, the game is said to be making "stunning progress."
