Microsoft recently announced that they would be expanding Xbox Game Pass to include all first-party exclusive games on the same day they release. This update to the $10 a month service will allow subscribers access some huge games as soon as they release.
This includes upcoming releases like Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Crackdown 3, as well as future installments on some of the biggest Xbox franchises like Halo, Forza, Gears of War and even unannounced titles.
Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft’s head of Xbox marketing, has confirmed that PC/Windows 10 Play Anywhere compatible titles will also be included in the service as a part of the regular game pass value.
Answering a fan’s question on whether or not Play Anywhere will be available for titles like Sea of Thieves on PC at no additional cost, Greenberg replied:
Yes if the title is Xbox Play Anywhere you can play the PC version too if you are a Game Pass member.
Of course, the understanding here is that the game itself is Play Anywhere compatible.
Xbox Game Pass, like Netflix, rotates the selection of games in the library by adding new games and removing others. It’s unclear how long the first-party exclusives will be available in the service, however, it is expected that they will work like every other title in the service. This means they will likely see a discount while included in Xbox Game Pass.
