Towards the end of April, Microsoft revealed that their upcoming game streaming subscription service, Xbox Game Pass, was finishing up beta testing and would be launching soon. It turns out that 'soon' is indeed soon.
The game subscription service is available today for Xbox LIVE Gold subscribers as a free trial, one week before the service sees a full launch.
Xbox Game Pass will be releasing to all Xbox owners on June 1st with a 14 day free trial for every Xbox One owner and over 100 games in the library. Subscribing to the $9.99 per month service will bring additional benefits, like a 20% discounts on Games and 10% on DLC for games the Library.
Currently, the subscription service features over 100 games, both Xbox One games and backward compatible games, including: Halo 5, Bioshock (1 – 3), Gears of War (1-3), Gears Ultimate, NBA 2K16, XCOM: Enemy Within, Saints Row IV: Re-Elected, Mad Max, Payday 2, Banjo-Kazooie, LEGO Batman, Terraria, Viva Pinata, Mega Man Legacy Collection, Resident Evil 0, Streets of Rage, N+, OlliOlli, Sacred 3, Perfect Dark Zero and Pac-Man Championship Edition.
These aren't the only games we will be seeing featured in the service, a number of games will vary monthly with new additions and games being removed from the library.
Once you select the game you wish to play and download it, you will not be met with an 'always-online requirement.' You can play the game offline.
If you're a T-Mobile user, you can get one month of access to Xbox Game Pass in June, thanks to a new promotion from the cellular service.
