The Japanese release of Xbox One will do more than put the system on par in its price war with PS4; it will also kick off the Xbox One Journey promo campaign, with an Xbox-branded brick of gold as the top prize.
Xbox One Journey is a social media marketing campaign designed to jump-start the system’s Japanese presence—an unsurprising move given Microsoft’s past struggles with the nation, though it is amusing to see them literally throw money at the island audience. In addition to the 100-gram brick of gold—valued at roughly $4,000—speakers, glasses and various Xbox goodies will be handed out to Journey participants.
Unfortunately for stateside buyers, only Japanese citizens qualify for the giveaway.
