Xbox Head of Publishing wants to return to Fable

"We love the IP."

Shannon Loftis, Xbox's Head of Publishing, is a big fan of the Fable franchise. She once moved all the way out to England just to head production on the highly anticipated second outing, Fable II, so she knows a lot about the world and the brand. In speaking with Gamespot, Loftis expressed a desire to return to Fable at some point, but couldn't comment on whether anything else was being worked on.

She said:

"Fable is very near and dear to my heart. Actually one of the primary reasons [I moved to England] was to work with the team on Fable II. Fable Fortune is now out, the card game. We love the IP. I can't talk right now about whether we're doing anything with it or not, but if I ever get the chance to go back to Albion … "

Fable's days as a prominent Xbox brand feel like they were so long ago, as the last main entry game, Fable III, released all the way back in 2010 on Xbox 360. Fable Fortune is the most recent game affiliated with the brand to come out, but it is a collectible card game in the vein of Hearthstone.

Xbox Head Phil Spencer hasn't closed the door on a return to Albion either, saying that there were "a lot of places it could go."

We certainly hope to see another mainline Fable game on Xbox One, as it just feels odd to think of the console and know that it doesn't have one. Here's hoping.
