Xbox LIVE Avatars will transfer over to Xbox One, more options to come

Surprise! Your Internet, pixelated version of yourself is carrying over to Xbox One and the next-generation of Xbox LIVE. The news comes by way of an IGN “Ask Microsoft Anything About Xbox One” feature that’s being updated weekly.

The original question read: “Are Xbox 360 Avatars transferring over? If so will any changes be made to them?”

Marc Whitten, Chief Xbox One Architect, confirmed the transfer and dropped a couple detaisl about Avatars 2.0:

They are – your avatar will be on the system at launch and in fact, you’ll have some new options, including the ability to do full-body HD gamerpics. By the way, we should actually talk more about gamerpics too. We’ve moved from the 64×64 gamerpics on Xbox 360 to a full 1080p. They are beautiful, and you are going to see some really cool hero moments, like when you login to see personalized views of your games and other content.

Lets be honest, it’s only a matter of time before Kinect can take a picture of us and turn us into a real-life Xbox Avatar. Then and only then will gaming reach its full potential (just kidding).
