Xbox LIVE goes down again thanks to Lizard Squad

Notrious DDoS group Lizard Squad has struck once again, taking down Xbox LIVE for the second time in this week. In addition to the numerous complaints pouring in over social media, Microsoft has acknowledged the issue over on the official Xbox LIVE support page.

"Are you having a tough time signing in? Us too, but we're aware of the issue, and we're working hard to get everything back up to speed ASAP!" the message reads.

Microsoft hasn't admitted to a DDoS, but Lizard Squad, who returned last week and caused mayhem among the gaming industry, has once again taken credit for the Xbox LIVE downtime.

Although Xbox LIVE support only mentions Xbox 360 having problems, it appears the DDoS is also affecting Xbox One as well.

Lizard Squad was notorious for launching DDoS attacks earlier this year. In September, the group targeted multiple online games and services including Sony's PlayStation Network, Twitch.tv, League of Legends, Call of Duty, and Destiny. They also DDoS attacked Sony Online Entertainment, even go so far as to report a fake bomb threat on a plane carrying SOE president John Smedley. For the past few weeks Lizard Squad was pretty quiet, but has only recently started to drum up problems again.

Earlier this week, the group teased that these attacks are just a "small dose of what's to come on Christmas."
