Microsoft spent a majority of GDC talking about Windows 10, the Xbox One and unified gaming, but there was one tidbit of information that had eluded some of the community – whether or not online multiplayer would be free.
Larry Hryb, also known as "Major Nelson," was asked point blank whether or not there would be a charge for the feature via Twitter. The Director of Programming for Xbox Live responded with an answer that will make everyone happy (because free is good).
Microsoft has stated that they want to make "Windows 10 and Xbox is the best it can be for gamers and for developers," and bringing free features to the table is a good start.
