Despite its household name, 1,000,000,000 plus employees (exaggeration? Maybe), and corporation style, IGN is most definitely like an average video game website. Okay, that sentence right there was one gigantic exaggeration, but nevertheless, IGN has succeeded in creating a juggernaut in the game media industry. Today only confirms this, as Microsoft and its Xbox 360 team have launched the Xbox Live IGN application.
Xbox Live's Major Nelson, posting on his blog, listed the several functions behind the new application:
- Game previews, reviews, guides and gameplay videos.
- ‘Instant access’ to game help walkthroughs and IGN’s extensive catalog of popular shows, including “The Daily Fix,” “Strategize,” “Weekly ‘Wood” and more.
- Live streams of eSports events and content from the IGN Pro League, as well as inside access to events like E3.
- Movie reviews and exclusive trailers.
- Facebook sharing through Xbox LIVE.
It should be noted that the application is available only to those with an Xbox Live Gold Membership. It should also be noted that though GameZone doesn't feature an official application on your Xbox 360's dashboard, we definitely hold a special place in your heart, right (cheesy, yet beautiful, I know)?
