Xbox One and PS4 to face off for T3’s Gaming Product of the Year Award

In less than a month the annual T3 Awards will be taking the biggest technology from 2015 and pitting them against each other to see which item is the best out of the rest. There are multiple awards like, Gadget of the Year, Brand of the Year, and of course Gaming Product of the Year (and more).

While Sony didn't manage to make it into the Brand of the Year category, Microsoft did with the release of Windows 10. Microsoft will be facing off against heavy-hitters like Apple, Google, LG, Samsung and Tesla. Each of these companies were selected on their biggest pieces of tech this year.

The Gaming Product of the Year category will be an all out battle, Sony and Microsoft might be facing off against one another with their respective consoles, but they aren't alone in the category. The HTC VIVE VR headset, Oculus Rift VR headset, Samsung Gear VR, and Razer Blade will all be vying for the title against the PS4 and Xbox One.

Last year, Sony took the title and has since been the better selling console of the two, but that doesn't take Microsoft out of the race. With Windows 10 the Xbox One's future looks better than ever — Microsoft has big plans for their console. They have stopped looking at PS4 sales for reference and are focusing on building a platform gamers want to be loyal to.

Sony has yet to step forward and announce their plans for the future, they have a number of game releases lined up – but haven't been as forthcoming as their competitor. Of course, there's a chance that neither Sony nor Microsoft will win the award and that one of the VR headsets could take the award home.
