Xbox One backward compatiblity now supports multi-disc games

Last November, Microsoft released the long awaited backward compatibility feature for Xbox One. The much requested feature allowed players to play select Xbox 360 games on Xbox One. Of course, there were a lot of restrictions like developers and publishers having to approve what titles are allowed on Xbox One and games with more than one disc weren't playable… until today!

Earlier this week, Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Directors Cut was made backward compatible and while that's great by itself, it also marked the first multi-disc backward compatible game for Xbox One! Xbox's Major Nelson commented on a Reddit post praising the engineers.

"I can confirm that the [backward compatibility] team has done work to support multi[-]disc scenarios," he wrote. "Be sure to thank the BC engineers."

Last year, Microsoft teased that the feature would release fairly soon, and now it's finally here for us to all enjoy!

Xbox One has over 100 Xbox 360 titles available to play with more being added every few weeks. It'll be interesting to see if Microsoft can figure out how to put original Xbox games on Xbox One now that they have jumped over this technical hurdle.
