Microsoft will release drivers to enable native compatibility for Xbox One controllers on PC “very soon,” according to a post by Xbox programming director Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb.
The company previously stated that PC compatibility would be a priority for the new controller, and that the necessary drivers would release sometime in 2014. The biggest hurdle for the software, an MS spokesperson said, was ensuring that all games working with Xbox 360 controllers would also function with Xbox One controllers.
Fortunately, this means PC players will only have to swap drivers, as the Xbox One controller will also support plug-and-play via USB.
