Everything we've heard regarding the launch of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One paints the PS4 in a favorable picture — especially when it comes to sales for the two next-gen consoles. However, according to data from InfoScout, the Xbox One may have outsold the PS4 on Black Friday, at least at a few select retailers.
InfoScout found that the Xbox One accounted for more than 31% of total hardware sales at Target and Walmart. What's more, even the Xbox 360 outperformed the PS4, comprising another 30% of hardware sales.
The PS4 and PS3, meanwhile, totaled just 15% each. And sadly, the Wii U accounted for just 6%.
Analyst Jon Brelig reasoned that the success of the Xbox consoles "can be largely attributed to limited availability of the PS4 in addition to Walmart discounting the Xbox 360 down to $99 for Black Friday."
Keep in mind, these figures only represent the console sales at Walmart and Target. While it could be indicative of each system's Black Friday sales, it's important to remember that stock and sales varied from retailer to retailer. While the Xbox One outsold the PS4 at Walmart and Target, it's entirely possible that the PS4 did the same at GameStop and Toys 'R' Us.
