Lots of remakes and re-releases highlight the month of August

Madden NFL 16 – August 25

EA has spent much of the past week revealing the top players at each position in Madden 16, but this year’s game brings more than just updated rosters and ratings. This year, Madden looks to completely revamp the passing game, utilizing “all-new playmaking tools that highlight the battle for air supremacy.” Of course, improvements have supposedly been made to the game’s various modes.

Disney Infinity 3.0 – August 30

The third installment in the franchise, the highlight of Disney Infinity 3.0 is Star Wars. The Starter Pack will include the game, Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano figurines, one web card, and the Disney Infinity base. Of course, there are a number of other figures and Starter Packs available for individual purchased at launch.

Dishonored: Definitive Edition – August 25

Yet another re-release of an older title, the Definitive Edition is a remastered version of the critically acclaimed 2012 release, featuring improved graphics and all previously released DLC.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition – August 25

With Gears of War 4 announced and coming to Xbox One, the GoW: Ultimate Edition is a good place for newcomers to start as it is a remake of the first game in 1080p at 60 frames per second, with an additional 90 minutes of content previously exclusive to the PC version.

 

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons – August 12

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons will only be available as a digital download this month (with the retail release coming September). 505 Games promises a “new generation update” for the emotionally-charged puzzle/adventure game, featuring additional content such as a commented Director’s Walkthrough, Soundtrack, and Art Galleries.

Zombi – August 18

Another older title, Zombi was first released as a Wii U exclusive back in 2012 under the name ZombiU. It’s unclear what’ll be different in this current-gen version, aside from dropping the letter “U” from the name, but Ubisoft promises it has been “optimized” to use the “power of the latest generation of hardware to bring gamers to a new level of horror.”

 

Yesterday, we gave your our most anticipated Xbox One games of August; but, there plenty more releasing this month. Sure, a lot of them are older titles re-releasing, usually with some sort of improvements, but they are still worth a look depending on your taste. Below are the noteworthy Xbox One games releasing throughout the month.

Rare Replay – August 4

Kicking off the month is Rare Replay, a compilation of 30 games by Rare and its predecessor Ultimate Play the Game from prior platforms that range from the Xbox 360 to the ZX Spectrum. One of our most-anticipated games of the month, Rare Replay includes Xbox 360 ports of Banjo-Kazooi and Perfect Dark.
