Xbox One game releases for November 2015

Star Wars Battlefront – November 17th

Star Wars Battlefront is an action-shooter set in the massive Star Wars universe. As such, you can engage in memorable firefights set on iconic planets such as Hoth and Tatooine. Now developed by EA DICE, Star Wars Battlefront retains the ability to play in first- or third-person, and offers players a suite of multiplayer modes ranging from large-scale 40-player battles to smaller modes for eight players. In addition to competitive multiplayer, Star Wars Battlefront also offers  co-op in the form of Missions. Arriving a month ahead of the upcoming film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars Battlefront will include (for free) two maps set on the planet of Jakku — the location of the Battle of Jakku that precedes the events of the movie.

Deadpool – November 17th

This is a remastered version of Activision’s Deadpool game which made its debut on last-gen consoles in 2013. The game is an action beat ‘em up starring the wise-cracking Deadpool. The story was written by former Deadpool writer Daniel Way in conjunction with developer High Moon Studios and entails Deadpool threatening the employees of High Moon Studios and forcing them to make “the most awesome game ever.” In typical Deadpool fashion, he frequently breaks the fourth wall, interacting with the player based on skill and progress. Deadpool will release on Xbox One with all of the game’s original DLC included. Though not directly tied in with the upcoming Deadpool movie, I’m sure the game will be quite popular with the film hitting  the big screen February 12, 2016.

Rise of the Tomb Raider – November 10th

Lara Croft is back, but this time she’s making her appearance on Xbox One first. Set after the events of Crystal Dynamics first Tomb Raider (a series reboot), Croft’s experience of the supernatural on Yamatai has been covered up by the Trinigy organization.  In order to prove she’s not insane, Croft sets out to find the truth behind myths around the world, and searches Siberia for the ancient city Kitezh, which she believes holds some truth behind immortality. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a timed Xbox One exclusive.

Fallout 4 – November 10th

The 5th major installment in Bethesda’s hit action-RPG series, Fallout 4 is set in a post-apocalyptic Boston. 200 years after a nuclear war, your character emerges from an underground bunker (Vault) and begins to explore the Wasteland. Gameplay is similar to that of Fallout 3, with a camera that allows first- or third-person view, but is much more in-depth than its predecessor. There’s a layered armor system, base-building, in-depth crafting system that makes use of every lootable object in the game and a dynamic dialogue system featuring over 100,000 lines. Returning to the game is the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System (V.A.T.S.) which slows down real time combat and allows you to make more strategic decisions.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 – November 6th

Continuing the Black Ops storyline, Black Ops 3 takes place in a dystopian future set in 2065, 40 years after the events of Black Ops 2. The campaign deploys players into a future where bio-technology has enabled a new breed of Black Ops soldier. Players are now always on and always connected to the intelligence grid and their fellow operatives during battle. In a world more divided than ever, this elite squad consists of men and women who have enhanced their combat capabilities to fight faster, stronger, and smarter. Every soldier has to make difficult decisions and visit dark places in this engaging, gritty narrative.

As usual, Black Ops 3 will offer players a suite of multiplayer options, including competitive multiplayer as well as the return of Treyarch’s popular Zombies Mode. In Black Ops 3, the Zombies Mode is “Shadows of Evil,” and drops players into a recognizable yet terrifyingly unfamiliar world, as they uncover the secrets and challenges laid out for them by a shadowy figure who holds their fate in his hands. Shadows of Evil is set  in the 1940s film-noir era and introduces four unwitting new characters — The Magician, The Femme-Fatale, The Cop and The Boxer — into an unraveling experience masterminded by the mysterious Shadow Man.

The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy’s Grand Adventure – November 6th

Inspired by the upcoming film The Peanuts Movie, Snoopy's Grand Adventure is a side-scrolling exploration platformer. In it, Snoopy must track down Charlie Brown and his friends in an intricate game of hide-and-seek. As the game progresses, Snoopy will gain the ability to change costumes which are based of his alter egos. This is more than cosmetic though, as the different costumes help him overcome obstacles and reach new levels, including flight levels that let him take off as the Flying Ace.

The Peanuts Movie: Snoopy Grand Adventure is said to "challenge curiosities of any age with comfortable, pick-up-and-go controls and plenty of lighthearted surprises to discover." The game will support co-op gameplay, allowing the second player to jump in and take control over Woodstock to help aid Snoopy by distracting creatures, finding new paths and help locating hidden collectibles.

The holiday season is officially in full swing. Although the biggest Xbox One exclusive of the year, Halo 5: Guardians, released in October, there’s still plenty of blockbuster games to look forward to in November, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Fallout 4, and Rise of the Tomb Raider. Check out this month’s Xbox One releases.

Need for Speed – November 3rd

Need for Speed is the 21st major installment in EA’s long-running racing franchise, but is a full reboot of the series. As such, Need for Speed offers players full customization options, an open world in Ventura Bay, and multiple ways to play. If you are an EA Access member, you can actually play Need for Speed before its release on the 3rd.
