Assassin's Creed Syndicate – October 23
If you thought that Assassin's Creed should move into a slightly more modern era, and should perhaps star both a male and female protagonist, then Ubisoft has got you covered with Syndicate.
Halo 5: Guardians – October 27
The next chapter in Master Chief's story from 343 Industries releases, and this time the game is split up between two teams; Master Chief's and Spartan Locke's.
WWE 2K16 – October 27
If picking up a chair and slamming it over someone's head sounds like a good time to you, then WWE 2K16 is perhaps next best thing you'll need aside from some hardcore therapy.
Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition – October 27
This one nearly gave us the slip. Divinity: Original Sin was already quite the amazing game when it first launched. Enhanced Edition not only brings the previously PC-only game to the Xbox One, it also hosts numerous additions, features and tweaks to make it a much better experience.
There's also local co-op for you and a buddy, allowing you to explore and complete quests together, or even split apart and do your own thing.
Other games coming to Xbox One:
Wasteland 2: Director's Cut – October 13
Overlord: Fellowship of Evil – October 20
Just Dance 2016 – October 23
Earthlock: Festival of Magic – TBA
Transformers: Devastation – October 6
While PlatinumGames might have been most known for titles like Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, this month they lend their game development skills to the Transformers franchise.
Given PlatinumGames' pedigree when it comes to fantastic combat, we can only hope that translates well to the robots in disguise
Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 1 – October 13
If you're previously stayed away from Minecraft due to its lack of story, then the new game from Telltale should be on your radar. Story Mode will be an episodic game that takes place in the world of Minecraft, full with talking characters, locations to explore, and items to craft.
Guitar Hero Live – October 20
Don't worry, we get it. You've lived the band life, and now you want to jump start your solo career. Enter Guitar Hero Live, which goes back to the franchise's roots and delivers a brand new gameplay experience thanks to the redesigned guitar. Time to melt some faces.
Life is Strange Episode 5 – October 20
The conclusion to Dontnod's emotionally driven tale of time traveling Max Caulfield is almost upon us. Those who have been enjoying the episodes up until now know just how crazy the story gets, and the conclusion will hopefully be just as mind blowing.
October is certainly the spark to ignite this year's biggest releases, starting with heavy hitters like Halo 5: Guardians. But even if you're not a Halo connoisseur, there are a ton more games releasing this month that are sure to tickle your fancy.
Whether you want to rock out with your… sock… out, Rock Band 4 and Guitar Hero Live has got you covered. Perhaps you just want to bash someone's face in, well then WWE 2K16 might be the game for you. Or maybe you're just a fan of story-based adventure games, in which case you get two this month, the conclusion to Life is Strange and the beginning to Minecraft: Story Mode.
So let's dive into Xbox One's releases, and see if there's a game for you.
Elite Dangerous – October 6
The epic-ly grand space sim which has you piloting, pirating, and cargoing in outer space, Elite Dangerous, is coming to Xbox One.
The game is currently part of the Xbox Preview program, which is very similar to Steam's Early Access, but on October 6, it officially releases with all of its bells and whistles. If you're a fan of games like Freelancer, Dark Star One, or even fondly remember the Elite game from 1984, you should probably give this one a look.
Rock Band 4 – October 6
Form a band, make money, get fans and travel the world, all while covering some of the most classic and modern Rock and Pop songs.
Is this the resurgence of music games? We'll have to see.
