Xbox One ‘likely to do best’ in North America, analyst reasons

Analyst firm DFC Intelligence believes the Xbox One will do best in North America versus the rest of the world. Well, duh. I don't think you need to be a genius to realize that most of the Xbox One's features seem to cater to North American residents.

Nevertheless, DFC, in a note obtained by IGN, pointed out the obvious. While the company noted "Both the Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Xbox One had very successful console launches in November 2013," it also reasons "The Xbox One is a system that is likely to do much better in North America than the rest of the rest of the world."

"The systems' appeal is limited more to a core demographic," the note continues. "The game Titanfall, scheduled for release in March 2014, will be a key exclusive for Xbox One that could help drive system sales."

For Xbox 360, the American market was key to its 80 million (and counting) lifetime sales. At one point, Microsoft's system enjoyed 30 consecutive months as the best-selling console in the United States. Unfortunately, it's failure to catch on in other key markets led to worldwide sales with the PS3 to break just about even.

Microsoft has yet to reveal the Xbox One's sales specifically in North America, but did announce that over 2 million consoles have been sold in its first 18 days of availability. PS4, meanwhile, sold over one million consoles in the U.S. alone in just 24 hours. Worldwide PS4 sales are over 2.1 million units as of December 1.
