Xbox One system update coming February 11

The first major update for the Xbox One will arrive on February 11, Microsoft announced today. As expected, it'll feature "many new improvements," including a lot of behind-the-scenes updates for developers building apps and games for the system. Of course, it'll also contain a number of stability updates and Kinect voice command improvements. So what exciting features can Xbox One owners expect?

Something that is sure to please consumers will be the return of the battery power indicator. You'll finally be able to see how much battery life is left on your controller from the home screen, so you no longer have to guess.

Users will also be able to see and manage storage space on the Xbox One. You can control your isntall lineup and more easily manage your download queue. The update will separate the "My Games" and "My Apps" into separate lists, allowing for separate queues for both. "Now you can pick the order in which you want your content to load and we’ve added a boot progress indicator so you can better track updates while they load," Microsoft says.

Lastly, you'll be able to use your USB keyboard with your Xbox One.

"These are just a few of the many updates we will be shipping on February 11. We’ll share more details on these and other upcoming features in the coming weeks," Microsoft concluded. "We have several surprises in store that we think you’ll love."
