Xbox Velocity Architecture promises blazingly-fast gaming on Xbox Series X

Microsoft has shared more details about its next-gen console’s high-speed abilities. We’re talking about the Xbox Series X NVME SSD of course. Watch this flashy trailer to learn more about it!

You know next-gen is approaching when console manufacturers are going at it with hardware boasting. But this time, it’s poised to be much more than just e-peen measurements. Next-gen systems are promising never-before-seen experiences with the introduction of high-speed NVME SSDs.

While we already know both technical specifications of the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 in great detail, anything that helps win mind share is worth promoting for platform holders. 4K has already been marketed to death with the souped-up current-gen upgrades and it looks like we know what the blast processing of next-gen is going to be.

The Xbox Velocity Architecture provides a new level of performance and capabilities well beyond the raw specifications of the hardware itself. The Xbox Velocity Architecture fundamentally rethinks how a developer can take advantage of the hardware provided by the Xbox Series X. From entirely new rendering techniques to the virtual elimination of loading times, to larger,  more dynamic living worlds where, as a gamer, you can choose how you want to explore, we can’t be more excited by the early results we are already seeing.

Speed. Namely, storage speed. Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X are sporting NVME SSDs that are on par and even faster than what many gaming PCs are offering. And since they are available on every console from the start, game developers will finally be able to create exciting experiences that take full advantage of the tech.

We’ve already seen how Insomniac Games has combined game design with technology by allowing almost-instant dimension shifts in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart. You can expect similar advances to games in Xbox Series X games as well thanks to Xbox Velocity Architecture.

That’s a fancy word Microsoft uses to describe all the advantages high-speed NVME SSDs are bringing to the table. Coupled with a high-end CPU in their next-gen system and impactful custom designs to hardware, it all means that game developers will be able to create seamless loads and instant gaming with the utmost reduction in lag simply impossible in previous consoles.
