Xbox Update brings player created Tournaments, LFG notifications, Party tweaks, and more; Details here

That Party chat overlay is so nice.

Xbox Insiders were hit with an update last month that brought a new Party Overlay feature to the Xbox One, Arenas,  and a number of fan-requested features to test out. Xbox One owners can officially start playing with all of these new features, thanks to the update being made available to all Xbox One owners!

It appears as though some of the tested features didn't make their way to the Xbox One yet (mostly multitasking features), but at least we are getting player created Tournaments, right?

Here's what the Xbox update brings to gamers, in case the video wasn't stimulating enough:

Arena

  • Arena on Xbox Live is rolling out to the general public for killer instinct. Players can find a new tab labeled 'Tournaments' in the game hub for Arena Titles and that tab will show which tournaments are open for registration.
  • Another Arena update arrived, bringing gamer created tournaments to Killer Instinct. At launch, players will be able to create tournaments for their Xbox Live Club in the Windows 10 Xbox App – as long as they are admins or owners of the Club.

LFG

  • Looking for Group Notifications have been added with this update. Players will be notified when someone they follow creates a Looking For Group post. If you create an LFG post, you can share the post with your Activity Feed or send it directly to someone (as a strong hint apparently).

Clubs

  • The 'Beam' tab has been added in the Clubs navbar. Club owners can filter broadcasts based on games and maturity rating.

Parties

  • You can add an overlay that shows which party members are speaking (location and transparency are customizable).

Dolby Atmos App

  • The Dolby Access app has been added to the Xbox One and Xbox One S ahead of  "a robust slate of native Dolby Atmos titles are coming to Xbox One later this year."
