XCOM 2 has a new release date

XCOM 2, a sequel to the critically acclaimed 2012 title XCOM: Enemy Unknown was initially planned to release in Q4 of 2015. It has now been pushed back to February 5, 2016 for an international release.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown was a reimagined/rebooted version of a 1994 classic XCOM: UFO Defense. Firaxis, the minds behind the Civilization series took up the reigns and made a now favorite in the tactical RPG genre.

XCOM 2 will take place in an alternate reality to XCOM: Enemy Unknown where XCOM failed to thwart the alien invasion and XCM now works on the offensive as a guerilla tactic group of para-military soldiers. Being highly anticipated in a very involved niche, the pushback can only mean more polish being applied to properly be called a sequel to a beloved franchise.
