XCOM: Enemy Within to be revealed during Gamescom 2013

2K Games' mysterious new XCOM project, believed to be titled XCOM: Enemy Within, will be announced during Gamescom 2013. Speaking to Gamespot, the publisher confirmed the formal announcement will be made on Wednesday, August 21.

XCOM: Enemy Within was previously spotted on South Korea's rating board with listings for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. No other details were provided, so it remains unclear as to whether it is DLC for XCOM: Enemy Unknown or an entirely new game. Given that Enemy Unknown is almost a year old, I'm hoping for the latter.

XCOM remains one of 2K's more popular franchises and with The Bureau: XCOM Declassified set to release on current-gen consoles (August 20), Enemy Within could make for an attractive next-gen title on PS4 and Xbox One.
