Sega has released a launch trailer to celebrate the release of Yakuza 0 on PC. The quirky and funny Japanese gangster adventure-brawler originally came out exclusively for the PS4 early last year. You can get Yakuza 0 for PC on Steam for only $19.99.
What a great time it is for gamers across all platforms. More and more games are becoming multiplatform, enabling gamers from all walks of life the opportunity to experience game series which were for the longest time locked behind the veil of exclusivity.
Such is the tale for the Yakuza series which has produced an impressive 7 main entries together with the same number of spin-off titles and full-on remakes. Since its inception on the Playstation 2 in 2005, the Yakuza games have made themselves a home on Sony’s consoles, building a rabid fan base over the years.
Now, a whole new group of gamers on the PC platform are lucky enough to play Yakuza on their gaming system of choice. At E3 2018, Sega shocked viewers of the PC Gaming E3 show when they announced that Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami for the PC. After only a few weeks of waiting, today Yakuza 0 is available for play. Sitting at a currently impressive Very Positive user review aggregate on Steam, Sega’s gamble looks to have paid off.
Yakuza 0 is a prequel to the long game series and presents the perfect opportunity for newcomers to jump in the franchise. We are hopeful that Sega will be bringing the previous Yakuza games to the PC in the future as well, especially seeing how well the first-ever Yakuza title is doing there right now. And it probably wouldn’t be unwise to expect the upcoming PS4 remaster of Yakuza 3 to be developed with a PC port in mind, albeit without having real confirmation at this point.
At this time, we don’t have a release date for Yakuza Kiwami besides the teasing “Available Soon” comment on the game’s Steampage.
In the meantime, make sure to check out our review for Yakuza 0 for the PS4.
