An Australian-based production company is planning a U.S. tour for its Star Wars Burlesque Parody show, "The Empire Strips Back."
The brainchild of creative director Russall S. Beattie, of Sydney, Austrlia, "The Empire Strips Back" is a burlesque parody themed after Disney's behemoth Star Wars franchise, complete with custom made costumes, movie props, and sexy stormtroopers.
"The Empire Strips Back takes the classic characters from the beloved Star Wars film franchise, and drops them into the world of Burlesque, creating a show like no other," the description boasts. Through striptease, song and dance, choreographed routines and comedy, the show aims to blend the magic of the original trilogy with "good old fashioned adult fun."
"Expect some seriously sexy stormtroopers, a dangerously seductive Boba Fett, tantalising Twi’leks, a Darth with a different kind of dark side, a delightfully luke-warm Taun Taun, a lady-like Skywalker, the Droids you are looking for and much, much more!" the description teases. "If you are a lover of Star Wars or good entertainment, then this show is for you. It’s not a trap!"
Though it is a burlesque show, it is directed at all Star Wars fans. "Our audience is probably 50 percent female and we have age groups from 18 to 70," creative director Russall S. Beattie told Huffington Post.
The Star Wars show was originally planned as a themed one-off, but following extreme popularity — for obvious reasons — it has since boomed. It'll be interesting to see if the show expands to include the new Force Awakens content.
The Empire Strips Back is currently touring Australia, but a U.S. tour is being planned. We'll keep an eye out for dates.
