Yes, Suicide Squad will be getting an extended edition this November

Our last hope.

Like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, DC's Suicide Squad was widely hated with the exception of a vocal minority who love the film dearly (Ben Affleck is in that minority). The movie was critically panned and Warner Bros. has come out and addressed the critical reception to their films by straight up saying something along the lines of "We need to do better".

Following in the steps of BvS once again, Suicide Squad will be getting an extended cut released on Blu-Ray which will hopefully improve the film drastically like the way BvS' Ultimate Cut did. BvS had a sizable chunk cut out of it, but it never felt like it was missing tons, maybe some pieces didn't need to be in the movie. Suicide Squad however… that's a different story.

Jared Letto has been very vocal about his role as DC's most iconic villain, The Joker. He worked his ass off to make sure he gave the best performance he could, he stayed in character throughout almost the entire production of the film and most of the cast felt very uncomfortable around him. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to you but he clearly cared a lot. When the film released, we expected a decent time amount of time dedicated to his Joker but what we got was… not great. We got probably less than 10-15 minutes of his Joker and the scenes we did see didn't show off the full version of his Joker, it felt tame and limited and he didn't get to spread his wings. This is mostly because a good chunk of his scenes were scrapped.

It's safe to say we will most likely be getting a TON more of Letto's Joker as well as a more fleshed out backstory between him and Harley Quinn as their story remained a bit unclear in the final film. There is also a variety of scenes seen in trailers for the movie that were never seen in the film so it's likely we will see those too.

We probably won't see every single scene that was cut from the movie as they did do reshoots where they probably rewrote some of the script and some of those cut scenes don't add up with the final script so that's why they were cut.

Suicide Squad's extended edition will be releasing digitally November 15th with a physical release on December 13th. It's unclear if this version will be rated R like BvS or if it'll remain PG-13 but we will probably find out in the coming weeks.

In related news, Ben Affleck has come out and confirmed the (somewhat) official title of his solo Batman film which will more than likely have some sort of Joker cameo.
