With everyone loving his latest film, Birdman, Michael Keaton is on fire right now. So when there's reports of him joining Tom Hiddleston (Thor) and JK Simmons (Whiplash) in Legendary Pictures' Kong: Skull Island, we can't help but get excited.
Centered on King Kong's origins, Kong: Skull Island is still far away; it is scheduled to open in 2017. Not much is known about the plot, other than it will feature the iconic island and home of Kong and explore his origins "in an entirely new, distinct timeline." It's the first Kong Kong movie since Peter Jackson's King Kong in 2005, which was visually impressive but iffy among critics and the audience.
Keaton would be joining an already impressive cast for director Jordan Vogt-Roberts. Keaton is receiving a lot of awards season buzz for his performance in Birdman, which has Keaton as a washed-up actor who once played an iconic superhero, but he must overcome his ego and family drama as he mounts a Broadway play to reclaim past glory.
Either way, Keaton attached to the film has us excited for Kong: Skull Island… as long as they get to the f*cking monkey (reference below with bad language).
