You don't always have access to the internet, sometimes you choose not to even have access to the internet and the developers at Turtle Rock Studios want to let you know that when it comes to Evolve – that's ok.
According to Chris Ashton at Turtle Rock, solo-queing was "always a part of the plan.” This plan doesn't stray far from the how Left 4 Dead's offline play was handled.
In Left 4 Dead's offline play you could either hold a LAN-party and connect directly to your friends or you could play with AI-controlled bots. No matter how alone you want to be in Evolve, "the solo game would stay true to what Evolve was always meant to be. In our minds, even if a bot is driving the Monster or the Hunters, it’s still the same great game.”
Playing alone actually adds some options, you can jump through the AI-controlled Hunters and control them yourself by using quick select.
When it comes to what game mode to play, Hunt or Evacuation Ashton has a good tip: “Evacuation is probably where you want to spend most of your time unless you want to practice specific modes…and never forget that when you are a Hunter, you can take over any of your bot teammates at any time.”
Evolve will officially hitting the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One February 10, 2015.
