You guessed right: Square Enix's next release is Final Fantasy: All the Bravest, and you should see it on the App Store anytime now.
The game has already popped up on the New Zealand App Store, according to Kotaku, because of the time difference. It costs $4.19, which is about $3.50 in the U.S. — a modest price for a mobile game from the publisher.
All the Bravest uses an active time battle system (ATB), and every three hours you can activate the Fever option, which lets you deal as much damage as you can without waiting for the characters' ATB gauges to fill. You can attack relentlessly as long as the chocobo-themed music is playing.
The game features characters, enemies, and music (over 30 songs) from "throughout the Final Fantasy series." It also allows you to unlock over 20 jobs.
Players can visit the in-game shop to purchase any of the 35 classic characters from the series or additional stages from Final Fantasy 7, 10, and 13. The global leaderboards rank players according to how much damage they've inflicted during Fever streaks, and you can track progress with achievements or send updates to Facebook or Twitter. It sounds like this social networking integration works nicely — posting gets you more party member slots for battle.
