Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair unveiled for 2019

2.5D levels and 3D puzzles

Team17 has unveiled the follow-up to their 2017 platformer Yooka-Laylee. Titled Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, the sequel to the love letter of the jump-and-run/collectathon games of the  N64 era will release later this year for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. Check out the reveal trailer!

Team17 hit the nostalgic nerves of gamers who grew up in the 1990s playing classic platformers like Banjo-Kazooie. The original Yooka-Laylee instantly became a hit not only because of its similarities to classics but by simply being an all around fun and lighthearted experience.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is a brand-new platform adventure from some of the key creative talent behind ‘Donkey Kong Country’. The colourful buddy duo must run, jump and roll their way through a series of challenging 2D levels, face a puzzling Overworld and rally the Royal Beettalion to take down Capital B and his Impossible Lair!

Now, two years after the first game, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is following into the footsteps and aims to offer a brand new experience. This time, instead of being a pure 3D platformer, the game will feature 2.5D levels and 3D over world exploration and puzzle solving. An important change to the established formula which should make the game experience a very fresh and different one.

Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair is set to come out later this year for pretty much every platform. That’s the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch. You can already wishlist Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair on PC over at Steam here.
