You can help choose a new character in the next Skylanders game

Activision and Frito-Lay are teaming up to bring gamers a chance to partake in the creation process of Skylanders. The new joint promotion allows you the opportunity to choose and name a new hero that will appear in the next Skylanders game due for release in 2014.

To participate in the creation process, you must first create an account here. Then you simply select one of three potential heroes and submit a suggested name along with a 200-character or less bio, including the inspiration behind the name you chose. In may, a panel of judges from Activision and Frit-Lay will select one fan-created name for each of the three potential heroes to be "finalists." You will then be invited to vote online for the hero you want to see appear in the next game. Later this year, the winning hero will be revealed and the fan who created the name will be awarded a $100,000 scholarship. The winning name will become the name for that Skylander hero and will appear in all sorts of marketing materials.

Earlier this month, Activision revealed that the Skylanders franchise has generated, life-to-date, more than $2 billion in worldwide sales. The next Skylanders game has yet to be officially revealed, but we have our own assumptions as to what it could be like.
