You can probably expect more Alan Wake in the future

In case you weren't aware, Remedy owns Alan Wake. The IP belongs to the developer, so it can do whatever the heck it wants with it. With no one telling it what to do, Remedy can make Alan Wake DLC, sequels, and spin-offs to its heart's content. According to Remedy CEO Matias Myllyrinne, the studio is not done with the series.

In an interview with Joystiq, the Remedy boss stated that digital downloads made it easier to develop games for a series. According to Myllyrinne, "I don't know, I'm loving the digital [distribution] side and we'll see how that evolves, but just being able to give people quick access to bite-size chunks of gaming is maybe more fun than working for years and years."

While it's too early to talk about anything at the moment, the Remedy CEO confirmed that more Alan Wake is something the studio has discussed and brainstormed. Of course, the current Steam release of Alan Wake and the Xbox Live Arcade launch of Alan Wake's American Nightmare are Remedy's top priorities at the moment.

"We'll certainly continue with Wake. Right now we're focusing on getting the PC out next week, then getting American Nightmare out. And it's too early to talk about what our next move is, but we've obviously put things into motion."

Alan Wake looks like it's here to stay, and if Remedy can deliver satisfying content, that's definitely a good thing. Here's to the future of Alan Wake. Let's hope it's an IP that can flourish and succeed even more down the road.
