Last week, Sony revealed that a 300MB day one update will accompany the launch of the PlayStation 4. Gamers immediately voiced their displeasure at the thought that their next-gen console would be unplayable for at least the 15 minutes required to download the update.
Sony's Shuhei Yoshida took to Twitter to clarify that PS4 owners will be able to download the patch in the background while enjoying a single player game. So while features like Remote Play and Gameplay Sharing won't be readily available out-of-the-box, you'll at least be able to enjoy your games.
Xbox One users won't be much better off, as Microsoft has already confirmed a similar day one patch to remove the system's 24-hour online checks among other things.
