Back when Konami canceled Silent Hills, the P.T. demo for the game was thoroughly removed from the PlayStation store.
The game, a collaboration between Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, starring The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus as the protagonist, forever remained a memory for PS4 owners that had deleted the demo. Of course, scalpers quickly took to selling PS4's with the demo still downloaded on the console via eBay – but that was short-lived as well.
Previously, we detailed a risky way of re-downloading P.T. and it appears that another, equally as risky, way has appeared — as long as you had previously downloaded the demo.
The method comes from Wololo.net (via Eurogamer) and it involves both your PC and PS4. The PC will act as a proxy for your PS4, allowing you to download the demo.
Here's the process:
- You will first need to download and install a program called SUWI (make sure to leave all the options checked).
- Download an IP Checker, get your IP Address and and turn on your PS4.
-
Go to settings, then network, and setup an internet connection on your PS4. Choose custom setup and select the correct network.
- Hit 'automatic' for IP address settings.
- Don't touch the DHCP host name (leave unspecified).
- 'Automatic' for DNS .
- 'Automatic' for MTU.
- Then select use for proxy server.
- Enter your IP address and set the port number to 808, hit next to complete the setup.
- Now, you can go to your library, enter P.T. and set it to download.
