You can’t pay Sir Ian McKellen enough to dress up as Gandalf for your wedding

If you think of Gandalf from Lord of the Rings, there's a high chance that you're going to think of Ian McKellen slamming down his staff yelling "You shall not pass!" Well, apparently that phrase isn't just for giant demons chasing down hobbits. McKellen reportedly shut down a Hollywood couple that requested he officiate their wedding dressed as Gandalf.

“I was offered $1.5 million to marry a very famous couple in California, which I would perhaps have considered doing but I had to go dressed as Gandalf,” McKellen told The Daily Mail. “So I said, ‘I am sorry. Gandalf doesn’t do weddings.'”

Unfortunately, McKellen didn't turn the couple down with a famous line from Lord of the Rings, something we will consider a missed opportunity. According to The Daily Mail, the couple that requested Gandalf was the Napster founder and President of Facebook, Sean Parker and his bride-to-be (now wife) Alexandra Lenas. The couple was probably crushed over the denial, seeing as they spent $10 million on a J.R.R. Tolkien-themed wedding in 2013.
