You’ll be able to plunder Borderland 2’s Pirate DLC next week

Well that didn't take long. We've already mentioned that the next DLC was already uncovered thanks to the last title update, which added trophies for the add-on. Now it looks like it's all true, and not that far off.

What was originally going to be the release date for Gaige the Mechromancer, is now the release date for the first official DLC pack titled "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty", which will focus on the pirate queen Captain Scarlett. Though don't expect it to be set in the open seas, rather, this DLC will be set on an expansive desert. Mark your calendars for October 16 you scurvy dogs!

If you've purchased the Season Pass, which sells for $29.99, you'll automatically get this DLC, and the other three future ones for a discounted rate of $10, or you can wait and opt to purchase each one for $9.99.

"You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water," said Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford. "It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on."

From new enemies such as sand worms, a new sand skif hover vehicle, and a new form of currency called Seraph Cryistals, there is plenty for gamers to enjoy whether they're still beating Borderlands 2, or have already beat it multiple times through.

There are no details of how long the DLC is in terms of hours, but if you've played any of the previous DLC packs for the original Borderlands, it's probably safe to assume that Captain Scarlett will be similar in that regard.
