Young Han Solo movie will be “dramatic, funny, and unexpected”, says cinematographer Bradford Young

Can we start being excited for the Young Han Solo movie?

Cinematographer, Bradford Young, has some pretty exciting things to say about the upcoming Young Han Solo project.

With the release of 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' only a few months away, 'Star Wars' hype has never been higher. Thanks to the success of last year's 'Episode VII', Disney plans to release at least one new SW movie a year for as long as they can manage it. Considering the roaring success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the concept of a Star Wars-centric universe wasn't far behind.

Following next year's 'Episode VIII', the next SW film on the docket is the recently announced "Young Han Solo" project starring Alden Ehrenreich as the titular hero in his more formidable years, alongside comedian, Donald Glover, as a young Lando Calrissian. Bearing in mind the skepticism surrounding casting a "new" Han Solo, fans can't help but wonder what the project has in mind for the galaxy's favorite scoundrel.

Luckily, cinematographer, Bradford Young, was able to shed some light on the ideas directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have for the movie. Managing to turn "questionable" concepts in to gold, like '21 & 22 Jump Street' and 'The LEGO Movie', Young assures fans:

“These cats are subversive, don’t let it fool you. They are prepared to say exactly what they wanna say and it’s complex, it’s layered, it’s smart, it’s visual, it’s dramatic, it’s funny, it’s uneasy, it’s unexpected. These cats are—I’m honored to have them in the list of directors I’ve worked with, that’s for sure.”

From what it sounds like, the movie plans to defy expectations and treat fans to a take on the classic character in a way that presents a new, fresh perspective. It's still too early to tell if YHS will be something fans want as a part of the lore, but we should know soon enough when the studio releases more intel.
