Following last week's official reveal of Star Wars Battlefront, Design Director Niklas Fegraeus has taken to Twitter to answer some of your questions about the highly anticipated game. While we've done our best to wrap up everything that was shown off at Star Wars Celebration, Fegraeus has answered a few other questions, like map size and frame rate, on his own.
Maps, size, and more
Right now there are four confirmed planets: Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and Sullust, which was briefly mentioned in 1983's Return of the Jedi.
According to Fegraeus, "There will be more maps than 8, and more than two per planet at launch." The Battle of Jakku will add two additional maps as free content shortly after the game's launch.
Maps will vary in size, "from large to small, to cater to different experiences and different modes."
Online/Offline, solo/co-op, bots will be supported. Split-screen not so much.
We already know Star Wars Battlefront won't offer a traditional campaign, so for those of you who don't like the idea of only playing online against other human players, DICE will offer a separate mode. Fegraeus confirmed a feature called Missions "that allow you to play solo or cooperatively with bots on or offline."
Split-screen is for local play only.
How does it differ from the original Battlefront games
Typical PR response: "It is both different and similar in many ways. This is why we have done a reboot instead of calling it Battlefront 3."
What about Heroes?
So far, only Darth Vader and Boba Fett have been revealed as playable Heroes in Star Wars Battlefront, but you can bet there are others planned. Fegraeus said more will be revealed "at a later date."
As for how you'll use Heroes, that will "depend heavily on the game mode." He added you'll be able to fight with Heroes and Villains in several modes, and "those modes will work very differently."
Character customization?
We already know you'll be able to play as a male or female. But what about gameplay customization? According to Fegraeus, you'll have "great freedom in customizing your own playstyle, essentially creating your own playstyle."
There will be "plenty" of things to unlock, achieve, and collection, with more information on the progression system coming at a later date. The deployable shield shown in the trailer is just one of Battlefront's powerups. More will be revealed in the future.
Frame rate?
60 frames per second (assuming this applies to all platforms: PS4, Xbox One, PC).
That's all we've got for now. Star Wars Battlefront is set for release on November 17, 2015, so I'm sure we'll hear a lot more between now and then. Remember, E3 is just around the corner!
